"At WellCare, we believe in helping our members live better, healthier lives by taking an integrated, holistic approach to care and connecting them to needed programs and services\u2014many of which go beyond just healthcare such as education, employment and social connections," says William Jones, president of WellCare of Kentucky. According to WellCare, the program will use \u201cunique digital platforms\u201d to help members prepare for finding jobs, including help with developing resumes, preparing for interviews and accessing one-on-one coaching.The platform also includes a registry of more than 485,000 social support resources, including childcare, food, housing, transportation and utility assistance\u2014critical to achieving positive health outcomes, according to the plan.

The launch of WellCare Works, with its emphasis on community engagement and relief for social determinants of health, follows the health plan\u2019s most recent recognition in that area. On June 17, Points of Light, the world's largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, named WellCare Health Plans as one of the 50 most community-minded companies in America for 2019. The insurance company won the award based on its many 2018 philanthropic contributions, which included investing more than $1 million in the communities it serves through the WellCare Community Foundation; connecting more than 51,000 community members to nearly 195,000 social services across the country through WellCare's Community Connections program; and volunteering more than 40,000 hours.Serving 6.3 million members and headquartered in Tampa, Fla., WellCare Health Plans focuses primarily on providing government-sponsored managed care services to families, children, seniors and individuals with complex medical needs primarily through Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, as well as individuals in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
